English abstract

Text-technology is concerned with standardised formal specifications. These specifications are used for the structured describtion, storage, analysis and multi-media presentation and for the net transfer of linguistic data. The research group "Texttechnologische Informationsmodellierung" which is granted by the German Research Council (DFG) since autumn 2001 contributes to the theoretical foundation and the advancement of text-technological operations and methods. The research group concentrates on the usage, analysis and development of formal, standardised languages and document grammars, their processing as well as their application towards linguistic data and textual documents in general. Linguistic data includes: different text types, languages and semantic domains, transcriptions of speech, multimodal lexica.

The research field of the research group is described by four criteria:

All projects of the research group share the following characteristics:

The research group combines skills of different disciplins (linguistics, informatics, information science), from several research focuses and working groups. It regards itself as a competence network that brings together special text-technological compentences, to allow for complex data and document descriptions and analysis and presentations, which can be used for new forms of theory-driven analysis and modelling of communication as well as structuring and presentation of multimedia documents.
