Summary: The Formatting Process

The preceding examples showed you how to format SGML-Documents.
I.e. you generated rtf-files or tex-files from SGML-documents.
Now you will get an overview over the single steps:
  1. The grove is constructed from the SGML Document.
    The grove structure can be manipulated by the style-sheet as you will learn on the next pages of the query-language.
  2. The flow-object-tree is build from the grove by the style-sheet (Style-Language).
  3. jade generates an rtf-, tex-, etc. document from the flow-object-tree.
